Schumacher Summer Palace Fret

Hello readers! I have a client that has some Schumacher Summer Palace Fret in Smoke wall paper that she would like to sell to my readers for A STEAL!!! It is gorgeous and absiluely stunning!

It lists at $65/yard before shipping and taxes, etc. My client has five rolls to sell for $40 and will cover ship cost!!!

Please leave a comment here if you are interested.

I am not noramlly a fan of wallpaper, but I have been imagining all the places I would like to use this in my house. I thought just on one wall in my bathroom would be perfect! I may have to jump on this deal and get a roll!

What are your thoughts on wallpaper? I've never even considered it in my own home until I saw this. Then I looked up other popular patterns like Imperial Trellis. There are som many great wall papers out there! I'm still not sure how I feel about it though. Thoughts? I also just don't know enough about it. Are the better places than others to use it in your home? Would it peel in a bathroom with the humidity? Or the kitchen? I'd love to hear your thoughts. I am not savvy with this sort of thing. Just fabric and textiles :)

Greek Key Ribbon Shade Redo

Variations on the Greek Key Ribbon Shade

One of my favorite shades to make is the greek key ribbon shade. I mostly make it in black and white. I think that is most common. But the possibilities are endless.

Any of these fabrics can be used as the base fabric color.
And any of these ribbon colors are acceptable as long as it is available in 7/8".

What color combo would you like to see? I'd like to see white fabric withh pumpkin pie ribbon, or red fabric with black ribbon.

Let us know what color combo you want to see!

Robert Allen Khanjali Peacock fabric

Calling all Robert Allen Khanjali Peacock fabric lovers! I need some pictures. Pronto! I am having a bit of a problem. . .  I am getting quite a few orders with this fabric. It is quite popular right now. But, my problem is that I see it and I think to myself, "I wish I could vomit on some fabric and sell it for $20 a yard!"

Now, don't misunderstand me. I think the fabric is lovely. The colors are very bold and vibrant, similar to that of my all day every day morning sickness during both of my pregnancies!! I can definitely see that this would look right in the right setting. I see it. But, it would help me a lot if I could actually see that curtains and roman shades I've made from this in their setting. The only place I've ever seen them is here on my shop display block. Bleh!

Since I continue to get orders for khanjali peacock I would love to have an image in my head of this in its setting where it is complementing the room. Right now the only image I get in my head as this runs through my sewing machine is the image of the doctor hovering over me 12 hours after my first C-Section with a resident saying, "See this? This isn't normal. We're going to need to add more staples." All the while he was pointing at my c- section incision which was still bleading and oozing all manner of disgustingness from the gaping hole that hadn't been closed properly. Nightmare. I'd really like it if I weren't imagining that while working on other people's window treatments. I think my clients would appreciate that too. :)

Has anyone used Robert Allen Khanjali Peacock fabric in any capacity? Curtains? Roman Shades? Pillows? Upholstery? I'd love to see it all! Please feel free to drop me a link to your blog and send me pictures of your Roebrt Allen Khanjali Peacock projects.

Confessions of a busy seamstress

I was looking back at my blog to see what things I had already posted about so I could change things up a bit and not be redundant. And all I could think was:

"Beuller. Beuller. Beuller. Beuller."

Snooze Fest!

No Amount of color changing font is going to make my blog entertaining.

A little about yours truly:

I have a Bachelor of Arts in English. I didn't minor in anything (although I could have in both theater and history) so I majored in all aspects of English: writing, editing, literature, etc. My passion is writing fiction. I used to write A LOT. But life got in the way. My Ehlers-Danlos started getting worse, my OCD started getting worse, I got married. . .  'nuff said, had my first child, blabbidy blee blabbidy bloo and so on. I stopped writing for entertaining purposes. I suffered Post pardum depression as well as Post Tramatic Stress Disorder after a horrific pregnancy with my second child. I started a blog to write again and get in touch with myself again. That lasted all of five minutes.

I decided to start this business and it is doing very well. I was told I needed to blog to reach out to a wide variety of people. Okay, confession time: I've read maybe one or two blog posts in my WHOLE LIFE and do you want to know whose blogs I follow? MY OWN! Ha! I have started following the blogs that I have ad space up on, but I just don't have time to visit blogs, unfortunately. I do enjoy reading blogs when I can. Between my health, my family, my business and my reality tv show addiction to shows like The Deadliest Catch (yes, another confession) and watching the AMC tv show The Walking Dead so I can prepare for the Zombie Apocalypse ;), I am left with very little time to read blogs. Long story short, I'm not entirely sure how to blog. :)

So that being said, to whomever may be interested, I submit the following:

I believe in going all the way. Go big or go home. So if a blog is what I need to do to "go big" then so be it. But here is my confession: I have no clue how to blog, what to blog or how often to blog. I don't have enough experience with blogs to know what to do. But I am confident that I can make a blog worth while if I have some input on what readers are looking for.

So here is my question in desperation: What do you look for in a good blog? What draws you to a blog? What keeps you coming back?

Please leave any and all comments. I look forward to hearing from you.

Bloglessly yours,

M.

A smorgasbord of curtains

About six months ago I was contacted by the lovely Amber Colatosti to outfit her home with window treatments. She has a gorgeous home and is a delight to work with! I imagine being on the client end in her etsy shop, Bella Bride Designs , would also be a treat.

This is her beatuiful home!

I do believe we have provided all the treatments in the home. She selected the fabric and we simply did the construction. She has wonderful taste in fabric. If anyone is curious about any of the fabrics used please feel free to leave a comment here and I will give you more details.

Ribbon Valance in the kitchen. The main fabric is a sage green velvet. We made the treatment out of a curtain panel from Pottery Barn (I believe. I could be misremembering that).

Dining area where we used the same velvet curtain panels that we used to make the ribbon valance. As the wall space inbetween the windows was limited we cut the panels in half to keep too much fullness from covering the windows.

Dining room. I made the curtains in the adjacent room as well as the table runner. Our former seamstress, Katie, made the dining room curtains.

Sitting room adjacent to the dining room.

Living room.

Another view.

Upstairs living area. I believe these are my panels.

Master bedroom curtains made by our former seamstress, Mandy.

Amber has a beautiful home and we thank her for sharing it with us! We enjoyed the opportunity to outifit her home with window treatments.

Beautiful work, Ladies! And beautiful home, Amber!

Does anyone have a room or set of curtains they enjoyed the most? Leave a comment here!
